Dan Scales Funeral Services was established in August of 2000 by Dan and Brenda Scales who purchased Cooper's Mortuary at 107 West 8th Street in the city of Pittsburg, California. The location dates back to 1919, where it was originally built as a mortuary by the name of Henry Nuttman Funeral Home which later became Caruso Funeral Home, Rose Manor Funeral Services and Cooper's Mortuary.

Since the age of 4 years old, Dan Scales had always dreamed of owning his own mortuary. He is quoted as saying," I always knew what my purpose was, to comfort and console the bereaved during their most difficult time, this is my gift."

Dan Scales is a native of San Francisco, a 1990 graduate of San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, a Licensed California Funeral Director and Embalmer, a California Licensed Insurance Agent and an Ordained Minister. With 20 years of work experience, prior to establishing Dan Scales Funeral Services, Dan Scales worked and managed various mortuaries in the Bay Area. Since August of 2000, the location has been totally remodeled and renovated to the beautiful facility it is today."
